Spirits of Our Whaling Ancestors

Revitalizing Makah and Nuu-chah-nulth Traditions

Dr. Charlotte Coté presents a valuable perspective on the issues surrounding indigenous whaling by the Makah and Nuu-chah-nulth Nations of northwestern North America. A member of the Nuu-chah-nulth Nation of Canada, she traces the history and socio-economic importance of whaling as a defining characteristic of these societies.
